This is an interview we did with our friends in Glasgow from EQtv, well worth bookmarking and supporting these guys. They work tirelessly and everytime we’ve visited Glasgow over the last 2yrs they are always there, busy filming and interviewing everyone they can, supporting the scene - props due.
This is a short teaser video we made from footage shot in Detroit & Sheffield for our new 12″ due on the 22nd of Sept featuring tBd, Rob Hood and The Bass Soldier. It’s a Quicktime movie, so you’ll need the player installed and it’s also 15meg, so it may take a while to start, enjoy.
[Eternity]: After deciphering a crazed message on my answering machine from Mr Mark EG I deduced that my mission was to interview a legend of the Techno underworld for Eternity. Interviews are funny things, you never quite know what to expect and when the subject of your interrogation is Ken Downie, a.k.a. The Black Dog, you’re certainly ready for anything.
The Black Dog is one of the most colourful characters you could hope to find within the murky depths of the underground scene. His background and beliefs are as rich and unique as his mind-blowing brand of progressive ambience. Ken Downie, the founder member and “genuine discordian pope” has gone from strawberry picker, to sailor, to computer hacker, to renowned music maker. Although he is often regarded as a true cyberpunk artist, he describes himself as “just a scruffy sod, with a few modems and computers” and regards The Black Dog as a flexible creative vehicle “in a multimedian sort of way”.
This is an hour long set we did at an afterparty after a gig, it mainly focuses on tracks we’ve remixed or had remixed for us.
1. Bozzwell - The Woods (In The Woods Mix By The Black Dog) - Society 2. The Black Dog - D.O.G. Style (The Black Dog’s Late Night Porn Mix) - Dust Science 3. Seems things have picked up at bit since Sonar, two interviews in one day. Here’s the one in our local paper, some of the names and facts are a bit blurred but it’s the first time a local paper has contacted us in 5yrs, linkage here .
We’re just setting off for Cardiff as I type, always a good place to play and the local Holodeck crew always get our full support, here’s the interview we did for the Metro. We should have the Sonar report sorted for when we get back but lets just say we smashed it.
Asking us if tBd want to go to Barcelona for 5 days and play Sonar and La Terrazza can only b guaranteed one answer! Barcelona has to be one of our favourite cities and it doesn’t take much at all to get us over there. After a short delay at Leeds airport and a delay waiting for a lift at BCN airport we landed at our hotel to drop the bags off before head straight out to the Soma party.
La Terrazza is in the middle of Poble Espanyol Ayda complex, it feels like you’re in the wrong place to start with as the location is so beautiful and there’s no one around at all. You can’t hear a single beat being played, it’s only when you get inside the club that you can hear the music (more on this later). Dave Soma gave us 25 beer and water (yeah right) tokens and we sat back and listened to Silicone Soul warming the crowd up nicely. Next up was Mark Henning and then us for a short slot before chilling out and having a few too many beers, the rest is just a blur…Well apart from having to keep the volume level below 92db, what a freaking nightmare, people constantly leaning over you and messing with the mixer, we did manage to bottom the whole system out twice tho
